THE LONDON BEAUTY TRAINING ACADEMY (LBTA) is a dynamic and innovative vocational training organisation that specialises in high quality beauty training. The LBTA offers high quality training in NVQs, Apprenticeships and Traineeships at our state of the art beauty Academy in Chiswick. The LBTA provide training to beauty salons as well as training individuals that want a career in beauty. We provide training for salon juniors and we also provide salons with trainee Apprentices that have been carefully selected to meet the salon’s own requirements 

What is a Traineeship?
A Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for.
At its core are an NVQ Level 2 in Beauty, work preparation training, English and maths and a work placement within a salon or spa.  

At the LBTA we are offering a 16-week Beauty Traineeship programme that is specifically designed to lead to an Advanced Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy.

At the LBTA you will have the opportunity to gain qualifications and work experience that is relevant to the beauty industry. You will receive training in essential beauty therapy, work preparation skills, maths and English, as well as a work placement in a beauty salon or spa.

Who is the Traineeship suitable for?
Traineeships are an ideal opportunity for young people who are motivated to get a job but who lack the skills and experience that employers are looking for.  The Traineeship is also suitable for young people that want to establish if beauty is the right career path for them as well as gaining qualifications.

Contents of the LBTA Traineeship 
The Traineeship programme is delivered over 16 weeks where you are required to attend our Chiswick Academy.

 The four key elements of our Traineeship programmes include: ITEC NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy General 
The main aim of the ITEC Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy General is to enable Learners to gain the necessary practical skills and knowledge in order to provide Beauty Therapy services to the general public and to gain employment in the Beauty Industry.

Mandatory Units 

• Provide Facial Skin Care Treatment 
• Provide Pedicure Services
• Provide Manicure Services
• Enhance the Appearance of Eyebrows and Eyelashes 
• Carry Out Waxing Services
• Develop and Maintain Effectiveness at Work 
• Promote Additional Services or Products to Customers
• Ensure Responsibility for Actions to Reduce Risks to Health and Safety

Optional Units
• Provide Make-up Services
• Provide Threading Services
• Assist with Spa Operations 
• Enhance Appearance Using Skin Camouflage
• Fulfil Salon Reception Duties

The main skills the Learner will perform are:

• Consultation techniques – to include planning and preparation, contraindications and contra-actions
• Facial skincare treatments – to include cleansing, exfoliation, massage, facial masks and adapting the treatment to suit the client’s specific needs
• Manicure and Pedicure – to include care of the nails on the hands and feet, hand and foot massage and application of polish
• Enhancing the appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes – to include grooming and shaping the eyebrows and tinting lashes and brows
• Waxing – to include removal of hair using hot and cool waxing techniques

You will also learn about health, safety and hygiene, client care and communication, developing and maintaining your effectiveness at work and promoting additional services and products to customers which is essential in order to work and be successful in the industry.

It also provides:

• the related knowledge and understanding required to perform the beauty therapy skills listed above effectively, in particular the anatomy and physiology for the treatments outlined above, common diseases and disorders that may affect when a client should or should not receive treatment
• opportunities for Learners to focus on the development of their wider skills in a Beauty Therapy setting, such as communicating with clients, working with others and problem solving
What are the progression routes from a Traineeship?
All students that complete the Traineeship will receive certificates for the qualifications they achieve. They will also have an exit interview with their employer and it is expected that a number of the Trainees will be offered employment with the employer as part of the Apprenticeship. programme

Students that are successful on the Traineeship programme will be guaranteed a place on our Advanced Apprenticeship programme in Beauty Therapy.

Students who decide that the beauty industry is not the career for them will still have gained valuable qualifications, work experience and transferable skills to enable them to find alternative employment or to continue their education at the next level.
