The main aim of the ITEC Level 2 Diploma in Hair, Photographic and Media Make-and the Level 3 ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects Hair and Media Make-up is to enable learner to gain the necessary practical skills and knowledge in order to provide Hair, Photographic and Media Make-up to the general public and to gain employment in the Hair, Photographic and Media Make-up Industry.

The main skills you will perform are:

Application of all make-up products – to include recognition of face shapes and corrective make-up.
Photographic make-up – to include working to a brief, producing a design and developing images, lighting and camera effects, application of make-up using products and techniques to suit the design image.
Themed face painting – to include designing a 2D image and adapting the 2D image to a 3D surface, application and removal.
Body art design – to include application using a variety of techniques and equipment and removal.
Creating an image based on a theme - to include planning an image, creating and presenting a mood board and identifying media images to create a theme.
Colouring hair – to include temporary and semi-permanent colouring products and techniques.
Dressing hair – to include selecting and using a variety of styling products, tools and equipment in order to achieve the desired look.

You will also learn about related health and safety and client care and communication which is essential to work and be successful in the industry.

The main skills the Learner will perform are:

Application of Fashion and Photographic Make-up – to include creating and adapting a design plan, using products, tools and techniques to meet the design plan; using black and white and colour and working to a budget
Application of Media Make-up - to include characters, ageing and casualty effects
Application of Prosthetic Pieces and Bald Caps - to include identifying the features and characteristics of the required prosthetics for the performers’ roles, including time management and working to a budget
Creative Hairdressing Design Skills – to include researching and developing ideas for creating an image for a total look and using and combining a variety of techniques and skills to present the image
Airbrush Make-up – to include applying Airbrush Make-up to the face and developing Airbrush Make-up design plans using research materials and resources
Face and Body Art - to include designing and applying face and body art using a variety of techniques, tools and equipment to suit the desired look
Dressing Hair – to include selecting and using a variety of styling products, tools and equipment in order to achieve the desired look
Colouring Hair - to include using temporary and semi-permanent colouring products and techniques

The Learner will also develop knowledge about client care and communication which is essential in order to work and be successful in the Theatrical/Media Make-up Industry.

This qualification also provides:

The related knowledge and understanding required to perform the Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair and Media Make-up skills listed above.
Assessment and Grading of the Qualification

This qualification will be internally and externally assessed using the assessment of skills as set out below. Once all of the treatment evidence documentation, assignments and underpinning knowledge have been completed, the Learner will have a final practical assessment carried out by the ITEC External Examiner, who will also verify a minimum of all treatment evidence documentation and assignments.

Course Fee: The qualification fee to include Level 2 & Level 3 is £2,787.50 + VAT (£3,345.00). There are no additional registration or certification fees. All students will be required to purchase a uniform and kit costing £200.00 Total fee: £3,545.00 including VAT.

You can finance this course through the Advanced Learner Loan or our finance instalment payment plan. (The £200 fee for the uniform and kit are not covered in the Advanced Learner Loan).

Flexible Study Options: You can study for these programmes part-time with attendance at the Academy either on two days during the week or evening attendance or weekend attendance.

Duration: 15 weeks if studied for 2 days a week or 30 weeks if studied over 2 evenings a week.

Entry Requirement: There are no formal entry requirements but a good command of written and verbal English language is required.
