The main aim of the ITEC Level 2 Diploma in  Beauty Specialist Treatments is to enable Learners to gain the necessary practical skills and knowledge in order to provide Beauty Therapy treatments to the general public and to gain employment in the Spa and Beauty Industry. The qualification is suitable for Learners aged 16 and over and is designed to provide occupational competence at Level 2. It also provides a sound platform into further learning at Levels 2 and 3.

Provide Eyelash and Eyebrow Treatments
Apply Make-up
Provide Manicure Treatments
Provide Pedicure Treatments
Remove Hair using Waxing Techniques
Salon Reception Duties
Client Care and Communication in Beauty Related Industries
Provide Threading

The main skills the Learner will perform are:

Facial skincare to include performance of a full facial, including lash and eyebrow treatments
Make-up application to include the understanding of face shapes and full make-up application
Manicure to include care of the nails, hand massage and application of polish
Pedicure to include care of the nails, foot massage and application of polish
Removal of hair using hot and cool waxing techniques
Salon reception duties

The Learner will also develop knowledge about related health and safety and client care and communication which is essential to work and be successful in the Beauty Industry.
Assessment and Grading of the Qualification 
This qualification will be internally and externally assessed using the assessment of skills as set out below. Once all of the treatment evidence documentation, assignments and underpinning knowledge have been completed, the Learner will have a final practical assessment carried out by the ITEC External Examiner, who will also verify a minimum of all treatment evidence documentation and assignments.

Course Fee: The qualification fee for the Level 2 is £2,787.50 + VAT (£3,345.00). There are no additional registration or certification fees. All students will be required to purchase a uniform and kit costing £200.00 Total fee: £3,545.00 including VAT.

Flexible Study Options: You can study for these programmes part-time with attendance at the Academy either on two days during the week or evening attendance or weekend attendance.

Duration: 15 weeks if studied for 2 days a week or 30 weeks if studied over 2 evenings a week.

Entry Requirement: There are no formal entry requirements but a good command of written and verbal English language is required.
Employment Opportunities: 
Most employers in salons, spas, nail bars and on cruise ships will require therapists to hold a Level 2 and/or Level 3 Qualification.

If you wish to work as a mobile therapist or offer occasional treatments from home, you will be sufficiently qualified with the ITEC Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Treatments. All students receive the Diploma which allows you to gain public liability (beauty) insurance to work with paying clients from home or mobile. It allows you to begin earning straight away, even while working towards a qualification.

Professional Body Membership and Insurance
Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance can be obtained via The Complementary Therapists Association ( and other Industry Associations who recognise the ITEC Diploma.
