This course qualifies for the Advanced Learner Loan

The main aim of the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapy (QCF) is to prepare you to enter the specific sector of beauty therapy as a beauty massage therapist. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role of a massage therapist.
The qualification is designed to provide occupational competence at Level 3. It also provides a sound platform into further learning at Levels 3 and 4.

Primary Outcome
The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Massage Therapy (QCF) is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you to enter the specific sector of beauty therapy as a beauty massage therapist. This qualification will confirm your competence as a beauty massage therapist as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.  It is for those who wish to specialise in the massage field of beauty therapy, rather than beauty treatments such as wax, manicures, facials and pedicures.

This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty massage therapist including mandatory units covering the following: body massage, pre-blended aromatherapy, client care, stone therapy, health and safety, Indian head massage.

Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and massage medium products. You will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to provide a variety of relaxing massage treatments using different techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

Entry requirements
To gain entry to this course you will be required to attend an interview and/or successful skills test.

Although not compulsory an anatomy and physiology background is advisable, and you will be expected to complete coursework prior to commencement. This will enable you to have the underpinning knowledge required to understand the practical components.

What could this qualification lead to?
This qualification will prepare you for employment as a beauty massage therapist. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a beauty massage therapist. Career opportunities as a beauty massage therapist exist in a variety of contexts, including:

If you wish to work as a mobile therapist or offer occasional treatments from home, you will be sufficiently qualified with the VTCT Diploma in Massage Therapy. All students receive the Diploma which allows you to gain public liability insurance to work with paying clients from home or mobile.
Who supports this qualification?
This qualification is based on the beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK’s leading professional association, the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) as being fit for purpose for preparing you for a career as a beauty massage therapist. Holders of this qualification are eligible to become a professional member of BABTAC.
Qualification Structure
Mandatory Units:
Explore the origins of massage and principles of complementary and alternative medicine
Provide body massage
Provide massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
Provide body massage
Apply stone therapy massage
Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
Monitor and maintain health & safety practice in the salon
Maintaining personal health and wellbeing

Course Fee: The qualification fee for Level 3 is £2,787.50 + VAT (£3,345.00). There are no additional registration or certification fees. All students will be required to purchase a uniform costing £50.00 Total fee: £3,395.00 including VAT.

You can finance this course through the Advanced Learner Loan or our finance instalment payment plan. The £50.00 fee for the uniform and kit are not covered in the Advanced Learner Loan.

Flexible Study Options: You can study for these programmes part-time with attendance at the Academy either on two days during the week or evening attendance or weekend attendance.

Duration: 9 weeks if studied for 2 days a week or 18 weeks if studied over 2 evenings a week or 18 weeks if studied one day a week.

Professional Body Membership and Insurance 
Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance can be obtained via The Complementary Therapists Association (www.CThA.com) and other Industry Associations who recognise the VTCT Diploma.
